TIDE & FLARE is an independent art studio rooted in China, creating original paintings that move between Eastern ink tradition and Western artistic sensibility.
The space in between
Our work does not resolve the distance between these two worlds. It inhabits it — finding in that in-between space something quieter, stranger, and more alive than either tradition alone.
What we believe
Every work we release is an original — guided by the belief that art holds what words let go.
The brushstroke that carries the weight of a mountain. The negative space that speaks louder than form. The color that arrives before the thought.

The founder
The studio was founded by Lucy · T., a graduate of the China Academy of Art. For Lucy, the conversation between East and West was never an artistic thesis — it was the shape of her inner life.
The philosophical traditions of the East are how I come to know myself. The aesthetic beliefs I have found beyond my own culture are how I perceive the richness of the world outside. They are so different — yet they arrive at the same place.
Each offers its own form of strength, its own kind of nourishment. These are not contradictions. They are all mine, to express and to inhabit.
That is also why I believe in art on walls. A painting in your home is not decoration — it is a declaration. Of your mood, your inner life, your way of moving through the world.
